A candidate must be a citizen of India.

Refugees from neighboring countries who have a valid certificate of nationality and intend to stay in the country are also eligible to apply for the entrance test.

Age limit

Those who are ready to appear for the UPSC IPS examination should be between 21 to 32 years of age as per the date fixed by the authorities. UPSC gives age exemption to the candidates belonging to the reserved category.
