RRB Group D 2020 : Exam Pattern & Syllabus

RRB Group D 2020 : The RRB Exam organized by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is a recruitment test to select candidates suitable to work in non-technical popular categories (NTPC) posts under the Indian Railways. It is one of the most famous and sought after exams for applicants and job-seekers across India looking for opportunities to work for Indian Railways. Every year lakhs of applicants from across the country sit for this exam.

RRB Group D Level 1 Recruitment 2020: Railway RRB Group D Level 1 Recruitment 2020 will be held to recruit 1,03,769 vacancies for the posts of Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Helper/Assistant in various technical departments (Electrical, Mechanical and S&T departments), Assistant Pointsman, Level-I posts in other departments of Indian Railways. Railway Recruitment Board conducts RRB Group D Level 1, RRB NTPC and other railway examinations giving candidates a golden opportunity to fulfill their dream of joining the prestigious Government Sector (Indian Railways) in India.

Finally, Railway Recruitment Board (RRBs) has released Official Notification for RRB Group D Level 1 Recruitment 2020 on 12th March. Through this recruitment process, RRB will recruit 1,03,769 vacancies for the posts of Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Helper/Assistant, Assistant Pointsman, Level-I posts.

Exam Dates:

RRB/ RRC Group-D 2020 examinations will begin from 15th December 2020. The official exam schedule for RRB Group D Level 1 2020 Exam will be released soon. RRB Group D Level 1 2020 CBT 1 Exam is tentatively scheduled in the month of December 2020. Let’s have a look at the important dates for RRB Group D Level 1 2020 Exam.

RRB Group-D Vacancies:

Exam Pattern:

The exam shall be Computer Based Test (CBT). Railway Administration reserves the right to conduct the CBT in either single or multi stage mode. Candidates qualifying in the CBT shall have to undergo Physical Efficiency Test (PET). It will be followed by Document Verification and Medical Examination (DV).

CBT

The examination duration and number of questions for CBT are indicated below:

PET

Based on the merit of the candidates in the CBT, candidates shall be called for PET Three times the community wise total vacancy of the Posts notified against RRBs/RRCs. However, Railways reserve the right to increase/decrease this ratio as required to ensure availability of adequate/reasonable number of candidates for all the notified posts. Passing Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is mandatory and the same will be qualifying in nature. The criterion for PET is as under:

Male candidates Female candidates
Should be able to lift and carry 35 Kg of weight for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down ; and
Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance.
Should be able to lift and carry 20 Kg of weight for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down; and
Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance.

 

Document Verification

Based on the performance of candidates in CBT subject to their qualifying in PET, candidates twice the number of vacancies will be called for Document Verification as per their merit and options.

These additional candidates will, however, be considered for empanelment only if there is a shortfall in empanelment from the merit list or/and as replacement against the shortfall on account of not joining of recommended candidates in the working post or/and any other special requirements.

It may also be noted that all candidates successful in DV are sent for Medical Examination. Clearing of such Medical Examination by additional candidates (those called for DV beyond the notified number of vacancies) will give such candidates no right to be considered for appointment.

Candidates may please note that RRBs/RRCs only recommend names of the empanelled candidates and appointment is offered ONLY by the respective Railway Administrations.

 

Syllabus:

The RRC/ RRB Group D Recruitment process will involve the following stages of examination:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT)
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  3. Document Verification and Medical (DV)

 

 

The Questions will be of objective type with multiple choices and are likely to include questions pertaining to:

CBT

 

  1. a) RRB Group D Syllabus: Mathematics

Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.

  1. b) RRB Group D Syllabus: General Intelligence and reasoning

Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical Reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.

  1. c) RRB Group D Syllabus: General Science

The syllabus under this shall cover Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10th standard level (CBSE).

  1. d) RRB Group D Syllabus: General Awareness and Current Affairs

General Awareness and Current Affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and any other subject of importance.

 

PET

Male Candidates Female Candidates

Document Verification

Shortlisted candidates should produce NOC from the employer on the date of his/her DV failing which their candidature will be cancelled. Signatures of the candidates on all documents should be identical, either in English or Hindi.
